About the Game Dev
How's it going? My name is Belle, but I go by Amaiguri basically everywhere online. I make adoraBELLE things to touch people's hearts! I'm a college student studying Game Design--with a subfocus on narrative and systems. I made this game and its world in my spare time all by myself, more or less, but I'm not very good at programming... You should follow me on Instagram and get to know me more. If you have any questions or comments about this scrappy little experience, I'm happy to talk about my game endlessly--including lore questions, design questions, and bug-squashing!

Please Note: This game contains references to many types of abusive relationships, between family members, lovers, and politicians and their people. It also contains some strong language, mild sexual references, and cartoon violence. Should you ever feel unsafe, please turn the game off and talk about your experiences with someone you trust.

I really enjoyed this. Some people might complain and say it's too simple, but I think that's where a lot of the charm of this game comes from. I really enjoyed the instrument mini-game, something about the simple sounds made when you played the notes was just really relaxing. and the eat sound from the eating mini-game is charming in a way I can't describe. The art style is also really cute and while the pixel sizes aren't consistent, it made it much easier to differentiate the background from the foreground.
I really enjoyed the homemade feel of this game, and it really felt like it was a game made by someone who had an idea and was very passionate about it, not just someone making a game because they thought it would be cool.
Some criticism of this game I have is it felt a little too fast paced. I don't know of that's just because how I was playing it or if it's part of the game. I felt that because of the speed of the game I wasn't able to enjoy the dialogue and lore as much as I could've, but that's something that could be fixed by replaying it.
Ok there needs to be some major overhauls to this game. Give the size of the screen resolution and how zoomed in it is, it's hard to know where you're going, so either a map or indicator would greatly help. You open the game with vast amounts of info dump that assumes the player has pervious knowledge and that can be overwhelming. I had no idea what I was doing, what my objects were or who I was meant to attack; was I attacking the right person?, am I doing the right thing?, etc. All in all, as is, this a vastly overwhelming and confusing experience. Heck, I couldn't end find my way back to the target board room. Honestly, in my opinion, this game needs to be greatly simplified. Not happy I spent money on it as it is, to be honest,
Hey, thanks so much for giving my game a try AND ESPECIALLY for leaving a post! It means so much to me that you cared enough to leave a thoughtful reply. I do agree with a lot of your critique and I'm always looking to improve. I'm sorry that it wasn't to your liking and if you'd like to get your money refunded, I'm happy to figure out that process with you. I've never done this before but please DM me on Twitter, Instagram, or something else and we'll get it figured out. Thanks again!🥰🥰🥰
no refund necessary. And sorry if I came off harsh. You got skull, and that's certainly on display, I just think you went a bit overboard, lol (but that's just my opinion, hope it didn't get you down or discourage you or anything). Keep at it. 🙂
Of course! Lemme know if you change your mind--Working on a new game slowly and such which will hopefully be a bit more cohesive! Thanks again!
(Warning: mild gameplay spoilers)
Went into this not expecting much as the dev's first game, and there is roughness. The characters have adorably big heads, but that means you're often getting stuck on bits of furniture that really slow you down, which isn't great when trying to maneuver around the many people who will try to attack you in this world (and heaven help you if you break anything, as vandalism comes with a cost). And I do mean many. Going into any building other than your home, the cafe, or the blacksmith means you're likely in for a fight. To a degree this makes sense given the nature of playing as an assassin, but many times you might just want to explore the town only to be accosted by arrows or dagger-wielding shirtless men (though that may not be so bad for some).
Add to this combat is functional but inelegant. You have two main abilities: a stab and a short dash. This is enough to get you through the game but feels somewhat stilted much of the time. I don't feel like the assassin I supposedly am, more someone frantically stabbing as much as possible before the AI pushes me into some corner or a bunch of chairs. The dash helps a bit, and some of this may even be intended as it's implied at one point you're undergoing training to an extent, but overall feels lackluster to me.
All this said, I was pleasantly surprised. There is a lot of heart here, and I have to give credit for the world and atmosphere especially. The backdrop is dark and dreary, appropriate for a city on the eve of war. There are several books to find that will give you a glimpse of the world's past, as well as talking to people multiple times to hear gossip and info on recent and current events in the city itself. Everyone operates on a schedule and will move to the streets and different buildings depending on time of day. Food is bright and colorful in sharp contrast to the surrounding darkness, enticing you to eat it, which is a cute tie-in with the game's other theme of self-care. And I think the dev lands the ending well emotionally, though I'll leave that for you to uncover.
TL;DR: Cute game with some rough gameplay, but has enough charm to compensate and is a fun diversion for 1-2 hours.
There's a huge world here packed into a tiny game! It's a cute hack-and-slash game with funny characters and sweet art style. From start to finish it's probably no more than 2 hours of content, but it's a fun two hours. No game-breaking bugs, and an active dev who is interested to keep supporters up-to-date and share the journey on social media! Definitely worth the money for a fun time.
Nice game! Solid main gameplay loop clearly identifiable from the beginning.
A few bugs here and there but nothing game-breaking. Combat system seems to be working as expected.
Story is a bit confusing at the starts but investigating and discovering lore through documents and dialogue helped a lot.
Keep up the good work!
This game has a really charming art style and includes a whole bunch of fun ideas and neat touches. It's not a huge time commitment but between the small details of the art to the personalities of the NPCs, it's a lot of fun to play more than once. Plus it avoids the most egregious sin of game design---when you see the llama, you can absolutely pet the llama.
Solid game. Some slight bugs but nothing close to game breaking. Intriguing story with lots of little lore bits scattered about. Simple but great art style, with solid music that fits the setting. Defiantly worth the price!
This game was super fun! It had some bugs in places but overall was very enjoyable to run around in and try to assassinate everyone. The world surrounding the game seems to be well developed and leaves cool lore hooks around the map as well for those who are interested. Overall, playing was a very fun experience and I would definitely recommend if you looking to have a good time and support a new game developer!
